One of the hardest things Jesus said was that to be his disciple requires you to “hate your own father, mother . . . brother, sisters, yes even your own life” (Lk. 14:26).  What does that mean?  Can we, or should we, do it?  As we prepare for a fall series focusing on the words of Jesus in John, we will first “count the cost.”  To follow this Savior is not a half-hearted endeavor.  It requires decisive commitment.
