REopening the Bible: Messiah
by Pastor Bobby Walston

Luke 23:32-56; 24:1-12

Now is the time to reopen God’s word, to return to the foundations of our faith.  We return to six key biblical events that have always defined God’s people.  These six dramatic moments reveal the high points of God’s activity among his people.  We reopen each story and ask three questions:

Our society has been in a rush to reopen.  Businesses, schools, travel, sports, and workplaces.  Before we rush back to “normal,” we must ask, “Have we learned anything from the last year?  Will we live any differently than before?  Where does God fit in the traffic of our busy lives?”

Who is God?

Who are we?

How do we respond faithfully?

Today, we reopen the account of Jesus’s crucifixion and resurrection and see that our God is the God who saves sinners.  Our Bible reading is Luke 23:32-24:12

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)
