Fifth Sunday after Easter 2023

May 13 / 14
Contagious Hope by Pastor Nathan Schultz

Jesus is risen! Death is defeated! Easter Sunday is the high point of the Christian calendar. But then Easter Monday comes. Everything seems to go back to normal and the promise of resurrection and Christ’s coming kingdom feel very far away. The apostle Peter points early Christians to the hope of the resurrection and the coming kingdom of our God as the foundation for life now. As followers of Jesus, we have a foot firmly planted in both worlds. It is hope in the world to come that makes all the difference in our lives today.

“Always be prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you, but do it with gentleness and respect.” – 1 Peter 3:15

Today we also celebrate the vocation of motherhood in all its forms.  We thank God for mothers, grandmothers, and all godly women who bless our lives.
