Christian Friends of New Americans
Christian Friends of New Americans (CFNA) is an outreach ministry serving refugees and new immigrants in the St. Louis area. Their mission is to be involved in relationships with New Americans with whom they can share the Gospel through caring words and actions. Reliant has partnered with CFNA to volunteer weekly with their after school tutoring program. Each Thursday, a group from Reliant heads to the Peace Center (their headquarters) to work with grade school students. The two hour tutoring time includes a snack, tutoring time, fellowship, and a brief chapel during which volunteers are paired with a student or group of students. The students come from a variety of religious and cultural backgrounds, but all love the relationships that they form with their tutors each week.
CFNA and Reliant are always looking for additional volunteers for Thursday evenings (5:15-7:15 pm). The number of students that can be served at CFNA is directly related to the number of volunteers available. If you’re interested in volunteering, please contact Natalie McLaury (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Humanitri is a St. Louis-based social service organization that seeks to move families and individuals from crisis and uncertainty to stability and self-sufficiency. The organization often connects with clients during some of the darkest times in their lives. The Humanitri staff walks alongside these clients, providing for their needs and teaching them new skills.
Reliant and Christ Memorial at times help collect furniture or help with home maintenance, but we especially focus on building relationships with those families in Humanitri’s programs. We also conduct fundraising events on Humanitri’s behalf and support the organization’s internal operations.
To get involved with Humanitri, you may either contact Humanitri directly or watch communication channels such as worship announcements or the e-newsletter for opportunities specific to Reliant and/or Christ Memorial.
